Write for me
Do you have a unique story about traveling in Malaysia? I’d love to hear it!
Ummi Around Malaysia is all about sharing practical, real-world experiences that help travelers navigate this country, beyond the usual lists of attractions.
I can’t cover every perspective on my own, so I welcome guest submissions from people whose travel experiences might look different from mine:
- Traveling in Malaysia with disabilities or mobility issues
- Vegan or vegetarian food journeys
- Exploring Malaysia as a person of color
- Adventures with children, pets, or family travel
- Traveling in Malaysia as seniors
- Traveling in Malaysia as a plus-size person
- Traveling in Malaysia as a couple / on a honeymoon
- Traveling in Malaysia as a solo female traveler
- Living in Malaysia as an expat
- Living in Malaysia as an international student
- Any other underrepresented perspective that could help future travelers
What I'm looking for
Honest stories with practical value. I want your real experience — the good, the bad, and the awkward. But this blog prioritizes helping travelers, so if you had a negative experience, focus on what you learned and give tips on how others can avoid or overcome similar situations.
First-hand accounts only. Your submission must be based on your own personal experience. I only accept contributions from individual travelers, not companies, agencies, or promotional writers.
Not accepting destination guides. At this time, I’m looking for personal stories and perspectives rather than generic lists like “Top 10 Things to Do in ______.”
Guidelines
👉 Length: ideally 1,500–2,500 words.
👉 Photos: 1-2 original images (vertical or horizontal), featuring you in Malaysia. Phone photos are fine.
👉 Tone: conversational, helpful, and approachable (not written like a promotional ad or brochure).
👉 Your submission does not guarantee publication. I only publish pieces that fit the voice and direction of this blog.
👉 Posts may be edited for clarity, flow, and tone to match the overall vibe of this blog.
👉 No promotional or affiliate links inside the article. You may include a short bio (2–3 sentences) with one personal link (to your blog, portfolio, or social media).
How to submit
Email your pitch or draft to ummiaroundmalaysia @ gmail.com (no space) with the subject line: Guest Post Submission – [Your Topic].
Tell me briefly who you are, what perspective you’re writing from, and why your story could help travelers in Malaysia.
If your idea is a good fit, I’ll get back to you with next steps.
I can’t wait to read your stories and share them with the world. Hope to hear from you soon!
